Doosan is back on the upswing with two straight wins after a five-game losing streak.
Doosan won 4-1 in 12 extra innings against Hanwha in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on Tuesday.
In the 12th inning of extra innings, Jung Soo-bin hit a grand slam followed by RBI singles from Yang Suk-hwan and Yang Ji.
The pitchers who lasted until the 12th inning also shined. Choi Won-jun, who had pitched five innings of 61 pitches and one run, went down early due to stiffness in his back and the bullpen was activated in the sixth inning. Kim Myung-shin (2 innings), Jung Chul-won (2 innings), Hong Gun-hee (1⅓ innings), Park Chi-guk (⅔ innings), and Choi Seung-yong (1 inning) combined for seven scoreless innings to preserve the win. Park earned his fourth win of the season and Choi Seung-yong his first career save.
Doosan, which rebounded with two straight wins after a five-game losing streak, remained in third place with 46 wins, 41 losses and one tie. 메이저사이트
After the game, Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop said, “We were having a hard time getting hits, but the batters showed incredible concentration in the last at-bat. Kim Jae-ho got on base with an aggressive swing from the first pitch, and Jung Soo-bin got his first hit of the game at the most important moment. In the process, Kim Tae-geun must have been under a lot of pressure after failing to bunt in the seventh inning, but he bunted perfectly in the second situation,” he said, praising the batters who scored three runs in the 12th inning.
“On the mound, all the pitchers, including the starter Choi Won-jun, pitched well and shared the victory. We are grateful to the fans who cheered loudly until the 12th inning.”
Doosan will go for the sweep against Hanwha on Wednesday, sending out starter Raul Alcantara. Felix Peña will start for Hanwha.
